Georgian Antique Crowned WITCH'S HEART Flat Cut Garnet Figural 9k Gold Brooch Pendant Charm Holder Extender Connector Romantic Gift
I take regularly scheduled inventory trips to Europe and around the USA to find unique antique items to bring you! I recently completed two sourcing trips (see my instagram to follow along! : ). Some additional examples of my typical inventory seen in the group photo - These pieces were all hand picked one at a time to assemble a collection that I hope you will enjoy! Thanks for stopping by!
ABOUT:
Wonderful witch's heart brooch with little crown detail set with flat cut garnets. The fabrication is similar to one of those flat cut Georgian closed back skinny bands that I've always wanted.
This Georgian to very early Victorian antique piece is in 9k gold with gorgeous color to the gems which light up in direct light. Besides pins, I’ve also seen these incorporated into neck stacks as extenders and charm holders. It would also be a beautiful hair pin, or the pin parts could be removed to convert the heart to a pendant.
These heart shapes were ever popular during the antique period and symbolized love, protection, loyalty, etc. and were used at times during a betrothal. The witch's heart description refers to the flared, slightly curved bottom of the heart!
Found in the UK. No hallmarks remain but sold to me at 9k and actually holds a 10k test. Beautiful and rich rosy antique patina. The pin parts are metal / not gold.
MEASUREMENTS:
28x25mm, it weighs 3.3g
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Still perfectly wearable. The pin back has tension in its spring. Pin parts are metal. The stones have a nice sheen and polish and glow and none are missing but seven of them have a chip or a crack that is eye visible with some loss, and a handful of others have smaller chips and nibbles. Please see zoom photos which highlight wear even more than with normal wear. Definitely an antique but still so beautiful!
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
