ANTIQUE 1.5Ctw Daisy CLUSTER Old Mine & Rose Cut DIAMONDS French Hinged Bangle Bracelet 18k Gold Silver Belle Epoque OmC Victorian Hallmark
I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!
ABOUT:
A sturdy French antique diamond bracelet in a linear hinged bangle form with safety chain. This one is so versatile to dress up or down, with the line of rose cuts leading to the daisy cluster at the center that has an old mine cut at center and rose cut diamonds for the petals.
I got this one in Paris, it has a rich and rosy antique patina with the shoulders and daisy cluster set in silver as was customary to set diamonds in a white metal. It's a sturdy one in nice shape and it bears the antique period hallmark for French 18k jewelry used primarily in the 1800s. It has a few other stamps as well, a control mark and the goldsmith stamp on the tongue insert of the clasp.
I've had this one for a bit, enjoying mixing and matching it with other bracelets to add the figural detail and antique sparkle.
Snaps open and closed securely and functions perfectly.
MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs 13.8 grams. It is about 7 inches around the inside with a tape measure wrapped within it the best I can do (this is an estimate as I can't get the tape exactly nested. Inside dimensions are 59mm by 52mm if I measure the distance across the opening in each direction, if you want to compare that to some of your other bangles. I have a 5 1/2 inch wrist and it is too large for me. : ( I can actually slide it off my hand without opening, and it spins around my wrist so it would be better on a larger wrist or stacked with other pieces. And with the safety chain, it opens to slide over a larger wrist.
The largest center old mine cut diamond is 4.5x4.4mm and a chunky cut, almost a half a carat. The rose cuts are 3 to 3.2mm with a few on each end of the line a bit smaller. Some are a bit on the thinner side for how they are sliced, but probably around 1 carat in rose cuts. 1.5 carat total weight in diamonds, this is an estimate as I would not remove them for exact weights.
The cluster measures 11mm and it is 8mm off the wrist. Some of my buyers use these measurements to draw it out and "try it on" to see scale.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The gold part of the bangle is in great condition and very sturdy for age. The hinge is tight, the clasp is very clicky and secure. There are just a few shallow impressions that appear like a ripple here or there but it is overall well formed considering age of over 125 years. The old mine cut diamond is very securely set with strong prongs on all sides. The rose cuts in the halo show more wear though with some worn outside prongs so that aspect would need gentler wear or attention over time. Nothing moves and many of my buyers prefer original condition.
Typical for antique diamonds though they do have some inclusions. The old mine cut / largest stone is eye clean. The rose cuts have some frosty spots, some rough edges and nibbles, some may have always been this way as they were rough cut to add a glint of sparkle.
Beautiful coloring, shine and patina.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
